OUR EXECUTIVE BOARD
DR. CHRISTINA LUCAS-VOUGIOUKLAKIS – PRESIDENT CEO & FOUNDER
Christina wears many hats. She is the founder and organizer of Hellenic Healthcare Professionals of Michigan. Christina Graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Vocal Music with minors in Psychology and Spanish and outside studies in Modern Greek from Western Michigan University. Christina then went to Indiana University to obtain her Pre-Med requirements while working in a genetics lab, as an EKG technician, and tutoring Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology to Nursing students. Christina is double boarded in Osteopathic Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine and has been in an employed healthcare model since 2009. Her current role as a Medical Director, faculty preceptor and educator, and Director of Osteopathic and Lifestyle Medicine Education for a Family Medicine Residency Program has truly been a lifelong goal. She also serves as the leader of their Walk with a Doc program and also teaches culinary medicine and healthy eating habits for the Monroe County Opportunity Program. Christina serves on multiple committees including the Michigan Osteopathic Association Educational Committee and the Lifestyle Medicine Interest group. Christina is passionate about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and loves to share her passion through mentorship, leadership, and fellowship. Christina is fluent in Spanish, English, and conversational Greek.
AMBUR ALEXIOU – VICE PRESIDENT
Ambur serves as our Vice President for Hellenic Healthcare Professionals of Michigan. She has been a part of this organization since its inception in January of 2020. Ambur is a graduate of University of Detroit Mercy and obtained her Bachelor’s in Health Care Administration. Ambur Also has her Masters in Business Administration from Wayne State University. Ambur is passionate about bringing fellow Hellenes together through leadership and fellowship and has served as HHPM”s Host and moderator for many of our online educational webinars and seminars.
PETER VOUGIOUKLAKIS – TREASURER
Peter Vougiouklakis joined Hellenic Healthcare Professionals of Michigan with the vision and drive to improve upon our Non-Profit Organization, and focused on developing the organization with experience and integrity. He brings insight to the board through his various experiences through his work with various boards and work in the downriver community. Peter is fluent in Greek and English.
TED VARKAS – SECRETARY
Ted is in Private practice as a licensed Clinical Psychologist. He believes “The path to healing is both personal and entwines in our connection to others”. Ted believes in helping people take better care of themselves while learning how to foster healthier personal and professional relationships. His approach is integrative, personalized, and based on change occurring in the context of a shared therapeutic experience. Choosing a therapist is a very personal decision based on trust and confidence. Graduating from Michigan State University and Wayne State University, Ted has over 20 years of experience helping adults, couples, and families overcome struggles in their lives. Ted is fluent in Greek and in English. He is passionate about self care and runs several marathons and triathlons and believe in endurance performance.
MARIA MAMOUZELOS – MARKETING DIRECTOR/SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR
Maria is excited to serve on the Hellenic Healthcare Professionals of Michigan board as a liaison to the National Hellenic Student Association and through various affiliations. Maria is passionate about her Hellenic Heritage and the care-continuum. Her contribution to our website design and to our social media platforms are invaluable. Maria works in the healthcare industry in the Denver area but she is native to the Midwest region. She is pursuing a career in healthcare and is passionate about her service and studies. Maria is fluent in Greek and English.
ANGELOS KATRAMADOS – BOARD MEMBER
Dr. Angelos Katramados is a veteran in the field of Neurology and Vascular Neurology. He is double boarded through the American Board of Neurology and vascular Neurology. He has served as the chair of the department of Neurology at Henry Ford Health since 2007. He is passionate about education and the field of Neurology and sincerely believes in the importance of preventative care. He also is passionate about his Hellenic Heritage and has been supportive of Hellenic Healthcare Professionals of Michigan since its inception in 2020. Angelos is fluent in Greek and English.
KALIOPI (KELLIE) MELISTAS – BOARD MEMBER
Kellie is a master’s level limited licensed psychologist with more than 14 years experience in her field. she is passionate about adolescent and child psychology. She graduated from Madonna University in 2007 and has been practicing through Henry Ford Health system. Kellie enjoys working with children, adolescents and their families and has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral. Kellie was excited to join HHPM as a board member and has served as a speaker on our panel webinar discussions. Kellie is fluent in Greek and English.
BILL COLOVOS – BOARD MEMBER AND LEGAL CONSULTANT
Bill has been enthusiastic and supportive of Hellenic Healthcare Professionals of Michigan since its inception in 2020. He has served as HHPM’s legal consultant and advisor and was instrumental in helping the organization become incorporated and helped guide Christina towards obtaining 501.C3 status. Bill practice Family and General Law in the downriver community and serves on several committees and has served on governing boards as a state representative. Bill is passionate about his Greek Heritage and his commitment to serving the Pan-Hellenic community.
MARYANN SKOURES – BOARD MEMBER
Mary Ann has been a board member since 2021. She is board certified in Family Medicine and practices through Henry Ford Health in Allen Park. Mary Ann is passionate about her Hellenic Heritage and her family.
